GIM Boseong is a lover of music. His short animation Dis COVERS begins with the lyrics of Pink Floyd’s song “Eclipse”: And everything under the sun is in tune / But the sun is eclipsed by the moon. Gim’s graduation film gathers together the legends of rock music across history, from vinyl records to digital files. It is a music video proclaiming that analog rock stars never die. Gim then wanted to make a tribute to hip-hop music, so he created the rap music video Wannabe for D’uncanny’s EP in only two days. After 2014, he made several music videos in collaboration with various musicians and visual artists. Throughout his journey, he pioneered his own art and animation style. The monochromatic landscape of SIGH OF SIGHS became representative of his artwork, while his animation was marked by dynamic motion graphics manipulating shapes and spaces. Gim gathered together his friends from school and launched VCRWORKS 10 years ago. Since then, his portfolio has grown and everyone has been working busily. He dreams of a system in which the talented members of his studio can create their own works. Meanwhile, he is working toward the completion of White Room, the music video for Mid-Air Thief.
